There is a Mauritian web site, Island Crisis [ http://www.islandcrisis.net ] , which claims to feature news. In fact, it is a blog for most its content have an ideological component. It recently claimed that Nando’s upcoming presence in Mauritius is due to political backing. [ http://www.islandcrisis.net/2009/10/kfc-nando-conspiracy/ ]

(When it comes to news, Island Crisis is as erroneous as Glenn Beck of Fox News. It should bear the domain glennbeckmru.mu. LOL.)

I decided to ask the representatives of Nando’s about this “issue.” It turns out that:

  • Nando’s had been authorised to operate in Mauritius since 6 months ago.
  • Nando’s is NOT affiliated to any political party or politician. It does not endorse anyone either.
  • The quality of service to be offered in Mauritius will be the same as at other of its restaurants worldwide.
  • Nando’s meals are healthier than most restaurants’ in Mauritius..

Quote (Selwyn Bron, Nando’s Representative):

Our food is all flame-grilled, and therefore a much healthier option. It is also marinated prior to cooking and basted with a flavour of your choice (lemon and herb, mild, hot or extran hot peri peri) on ordering. We do not have food ready prepared waiting for customers to walk in. Each order is freshly prepared.

There is NO bloody conspiracy!

Nando’s For The Win! (FTW!)

I, for one, am very happy that Nando will be in Mauritius! Like Selwyn said – the food is healthy and the quality of service rocks!
